The reason I chose to go into the medical field is because of my sister.
My sister was born with special needs, autism, a chromosome deletion,
etc., because of her medical problems we were in and out of hospitals
and doctor offices for testing and checkups. With that being said, we
were around many nurses and doctors who were very helpful and inspiring.
As I grew, I realized that I wanted to help as many people as I possibly
can which is why I chose nursing.

From a young age, I have always known I wanted to make a difference in
the lives of others. Choosing healthcare as a career will allow me to
give back to my community by providing quality care to patients in need.
I understand the importance of accessible healthcare, especially for those
facing financial and medical challenges like my family has. Healthcare
is a field that requires both skill and compassion, two qualities I have
developed through my experiences. I chose to study diagnostic medical
sonography because it combines my passion for healthcare with my interest
in technology and patient care. My experience as a CNA has shown me the
importance of early detection and accurate diagnosis in improving patient
outcomes. Sonography allows me to play a crucial role in healthcare by
using imaging technology to assist in diagnosing medical conditions. Additionally,
sonography offers job stability, career growth, and a rewarding work environment,
all while making a difference in people’s lives.

The opportunity to make a positive difference, especially during challenging
times, motivated me to choose a career in healthcare. My primary goal
is to be the first in my family to attend medical school and pursue a
career as a radiologist. I am fascinated by the role of radiologists as
the key source of information interpret medical images, diagnose patients,
and collaborate with other physicians to ensure proper treatment.

I want to be a pathologist because I love the detective work behind diagnosing
disease—it’s like solving a medical mystery, just with more
microscopes and fewer car chases. Helping at Beloit Hospital as an Emergency
Department volunteer showed me how crucial and fascinating it is to understand
and diagnose diseases. As a biology major on the premed track, I’ll
build the foundation I need while diving into research and clinical experiences
that prepare me for med school—and eventually, a career spent solving
the puzzles of the human body.
