This Per Diem Youth Apprenticeship - Optical Assistant is a Per Diem at Beloit Health System located in Beloit, WI. The Youth Apprentice will be involved in day-to-day tasks to support healthcare professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the overall patient care experience.
This Youth Apprenticeship - Optical Assistant will apply infection prevention controls and standard safety precautions, measure client eye lengths, centers, and distances, setup optometry area, assist with eye exams, instruct patients on care for eyewear, order frames and lenses, assist patient with selecting frames, fit glasses to clients, clean and restock after procedures, and maintain inventory.
Qualifications
  • Must be a current High School Student, 16 years of age or older
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a healthcare environment
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology helpful
