BHS Celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, federal US troops arrived in Galveston, Texas carrying the message of the emancipation proclamation which declared that enslaved people were now free. Last year, President Joseph R. Biden signed into law a bill to make Juneteenth a federal holiday.

On Saturday, June 18, 2022 Members of Beloit Health System attended the YWCA Rock County and the Elite Ladies of Beloit Juneteenth Celebration at Telfer Park in Beloit. We had a booth full of information about all the services Beloit Health System provides. Our group of volunteers had the opportunity to speak with Governor Evers who attend the event. We are honored to have been part of this very important event.
