This Per Diem Youth Apprenticeship -Medical Laboratory Assistant is a Per Diem at Beloit Health System located in Beloit, WI. The Youth Apprentice will be involved in day-to-day tasks to support healthcare professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the overall patient care experience.
This Youth Apprenticeship -Medical Laboratory Assistant will apply infection prevention controls, standard precautions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, maintain inventory, prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment for use, operate lab equipment, assist in Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived tests, dispose of biohazard waste, and perform clerical tasks.
Qualifications
  • Must be a current High School Student, 16 years of age or older
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a healthcare environment
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology helpful
